چکیده

A new pulsar, 1SAX J1452.8−5949, was discovered during a BeppoSAX galactic plane survey on 1999 July 20 at R.A.=14h 52m 49. s3, Dec=−59◦ 49′ 18′′ (J2000) with a 90% confidence uncertainty radius of 50′′. Coherent pulsations were detected with a barycentric period of a 437.4±1.4 s. The X-ray spectrum can be modeled by a power-law with a photon index of 1.4±0.6 and absorption consistent with the galactic value in the direction of the source (1.9×1022 atom cm−2). An Fe K line with a equivalent width of ∼ >1.3 keV may be present in the spectrum. The unabsorbed 2–10 keV flux is 9×10−13 erg cm−2 s−1. The X-ray properties and lack of an obvious optical counterpart are consistent with a Be star companion at a distance of between approximately 6 and 12 kpc which implies a luminosity of (4–15)×1033 erg s−1.

Discovery of a 1247 s pulsar in the Be X - ray binary SAX J 2239 . 3 + 6116

A search for pulsations from the Be X-ray binary SAX J2239.3+6116, through observations with the Narrow Field Instruments on BeppoSAX and the Proportional Counter Array on RXTE, yielded the clear presence of a 1247 s coherent oscillation. Given the fairly high X-ray luminosity on previous occasions (up to a few times 10 erg s−1 in 2 to 28 keV), the oscillation must be due to the spin of a neutr...

Discovery of the Accretion-powered Millisecond X-ray Pulsar Igr J00291+5934

We report on observations of the sixth accretion-powered millisecond pulsar, IGR J00291+5934, with the Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer. The source is a faint, recurrent X-ray transient initially identified by INTEGRAL. The 599 Hz (1.67 ms) pulsation had a fractional rms amplitude of 8% in the 2–20 keV range, and its shape was approximately sinusoidal. The pulses show an energy-dependent phase delay...

The Discovery of Quiescent X-ray Emission from Sax J1808.4–3658, the Transient 2.5 Ms Pulsar

We report on a 20 ks BeppoSAX observation of the transient 2.5 ms X-ray pulsar SAX J1808.4–3658 in its quiescent state. A source at a level of ∼ 3×10 counts s was detected with the BeppoSAX/MECS at a position consistent with that of SAX J1808.4–3658. The inferred 0.5–10 keV luminosity was ∼ 2− 3× 10 erg s (for a distance of 4 kpc), a value similar to that measured from other quiescent low mass ...

Very low luminosities from the accretion-driven millisecond X-ray pulsar SAX J1808.4–3658 during quiescence

We have observed the millisecond X-ray pulsar SAX J1808.4–3658 on three occasions during its 2000 outburst with the BeppoSAX satellite. The source was highly variable and erratic during this outburst, and by coincidence we obtained data only during times when the source had very low luminosities. During our observations, we detected four faint sources. The source closest to the position of SAX ...

Discovery of the transient X - ray pulsar SAX J 2103 . 5 + 4545

We report the discovery of the X-ray transient SAX J2103.5+4545 which was active from Febru-ary to September 1997. The observed peak intensity of 20 mCrab (2 to 25 keV) occurred on April 11. An analysis of data obtained around the time of the peak revealed a pulsed signal with a period of 358.61 ± 0.03 s on MJD 50569. The pulse profile has a pulsed fraction of ∼ 40%. No change in the pulse peri...
